Growing up, most people only had easy access to Z, Z's action and iconic power ups, side characters, and Villains are really appealing to a wide group of people. The OG is more accessible in this streaming age but not promoted as much. There is also length to consider, 150 eps + Z's 291 or 167 (kai)
