I like how the producers of Wong Kar-wai's Blossoms Shanghai thought no one outside of China is ever gonna see this so we might as well completely rip off the Succession song for our opening theme

re: The Tonearm

I'd like to bring on another writer to our online mag who specializes in experimental music, be it freak-out jazz, post-classical, sound art, outsider noise, or delicious combinations of those … must have writing experience (this can be your blog/newsletter) + into doing interviews

I have a few curious 'did I dream that?' stories about the times I've stayed at The Phoenix, but the funniest is probably when there was a knock at my room's door, and here were two girls trying to find which room Keanu Reeves was supposedly staying in … they were knocking on every door in the hotel
Another Legendary Rock Spot Is Shutting Down
The Phoenix Hotel, which welcomed everyone from David Bowie to Radiohead, and will always be linked with Kurt Cobain, is set to close in January 2026.

I may have set myself up for trouble because I just told one of our writers to read this Lester Bangs 'political manifesto' on Meat Loaf for inspiration → musicpresspantheon.blogspot.com/2025/05/lest...

❝ Another highlight is Gysin’s manuscript notebook detailing the crucial period between 1958 and 1961 when he was living in the Beat Hotel in Paris … unpublished [and] entirely unknown to the literary and academic communities … an unparalleled opportunity for research into Gysin’s art and life. →

George Grella dropped this excellent thinkpiece on The Tonearm today, examining entropy through Tim Harrison's 'A Strange Loop' + William Basinski's 'The Disintegration Loops

echoing (no pun intended) much of my own curiosity re: the concept of time and how it relates to the kinetic art of music
From Signal to Noise — Loop Music and Entropy
Examining Tim Harrison's 'A Strange Loop' alongside William Basinski's 'The Disintegration Loops,' George Grella finds complementary visions of how loop music engages the universe's inexorable movement from order to chaos.
