What if instead, and I know this might sound CRAZY, Twitch just doesn't deactive that gift badge?? We don't lose our bit badges so why should gift badges be any different?
Twitch is testing a new "Gift Badge Expired" nudge to encourage you to gift a sub to get your gift sub badge back.

Thank you to everyone for such an amazing year of streams! I've been streaming for nearly 5 years now and this year has been the most fun for me. Met so many cool people, actually beat some games, and I'm just amazed by the amount of support I've had throughout. It has just been incredible 💚

Indiana Jones is one of my all-time favourite movie franchises so seeing all the glowing reviews of The Great Circle makes me so excited to play it whenever my backlog allows
