It is not a secret that I am a fan of the debut album by Paw, Dragline, and it is further no secret that I learned about the band originally because of Road Rash, but what you might not know is that three tracks in a row are about Nabokov, George Kennedy, and Archie Comics, respectively.

Then you could just drop a black (or anything, really) layer somewhere beneath to be the color for your borders. Since you made those areas in the layer mask transparent, it'll bleed through:

You could do this on a single combined layer or on a per-panel basis, I think. I'm kinda flying by the seat of my pants here. 😅. Anyway, set transparency for the mask to the "border" areas you don't want the art to show through, e.g.

Seriously, though, I have been trying to finish this "quick sketch just so I have something to post tonight" all week, mostly spent restarting it from scratch every single time.
This has officially taken longer than the last animation I made, and I haven't even inked it yet.
