The issue was that I was displacing up by the maximum step threshold possible, all the times. So if the player had to go a little step to get into a tight space, it wouldn't go up.

I use the raycast now to get the lowest possible point ahead, and only displace it by that much

To describe the feeling I'm looking for... Floaty smooth stairstep.
I can't think other way to think about it.

The way I'm doing it rn is by checking if my object would:
A) Collide if continues moving forward and
B) Collide if translated up by certain amount and then forwad
