Could be. English is a hodgepodge of different languages anyway. In the Bird or out. It's delicious. Some people won't stuff the Bird bc the dressing comes out wet or it soaks up all the drippings for gravy

We call it stuffing BUT if we made stuffing in the turkey, then we call that dressing since both are on the table.
