Gotta hand it to Assad. He had a good run for a self interested tyrant. If he escapes with a lot of wealth I have no doubt he would've looted he's basically won as a dictator and got a good retirement in Russia or wherever.

The more I think about the murder of that healthcare CEO the more I feel like public reaction indicates something very bad about the state of society. Both left and right seem to find glee in what's essentially vigilantism. Everyone has peasant brain these days.

Giving everyone a megaphone through social media has been one of the worst things to happen to society. You can see some guy posting a JQ infographic right next to tweets from CNN as if they're equals.
It sucks that people get so bewildered when you express how upsetting it is after they start going down conspiracy rabbit holes, because there’s like a 50% chance they’ll be a full-blown nutcase in less than 6 months.
