Wait until they start to realise that all us “older” people that used to piss off to the EU are now stuck here as an ever-increasing burden on the NHS. The younger ones with transferable skills are heading abroad to where the real sunlit uplands are.

For the vast majority of these “ICE” recruits, I am fairly confident that student loan forgiveness is unlikely to be a burden on the American tax payer.

Money alone will not solve the problem. The UK suffers from almost zero social mobility whereby your future is often determined by where you were born. What will change people’s future is opportunity - better education, better transport links, inspiration to aspire to greater things.

You missed my point. If it is as they say only relevant to RTW then it is not an issue. If they want to make it essential to do any type of transaction, then it is not okay. Should NOT be compulsory.

The employer can tick a box to confirm RTW has been verified. It is no more an imposition than having to supply your NI number.

Starmer always misses a trick. A digital ID should not be made compulsory for all as it serves little purpose for many in the broader population, but perhaps only made required if you are of working age and want a new job. Along with all the information already gathered, 2/3

As a migrant with ILR (here 9 years) I already have a digital ID that proves my immigration status and right to work. Although UKVI have access to my information, I can share my status and right to work to individual or employers, and all they see is status and rights to work. It’s fine. 1/3

Pretty shop fronts? Pubs that will once again shut down? The people in these areas need to be given opportunity, better access to healthcare and public transport infrastructure. This is what will change the social ethos, deliver real change, and restore pride to a community.
