The purpose of this thread was to do just that. OP began and ended his thread with the logical fallacy of relative privation: present day people are better off than the Cratchit's who were better off than the working poor (despite being working poor by Dickens' design).

It's clear you enjoy bullying others, but can't take a modicum of being pointed in the right direction. Don't tell others what to do and you won't get told where you're wrong and where to educate yourself in the future, no doubt.

You failed to understand "A Christmas Carol". You failed to understand the OP's point. You remind me of why I adore Dickens as a human and writer. He was a deep thinker, empathetic and listened.

Dickens indeed meant the Cratchits were poor. Even with the extra incomes of Mrs. Cratchit and the eldest, Timmy was destined for death without monetary intervention for food and medical care. You're conflating destitute with poor.
