You may know this about the name of the SD newspaper, but as a local, my parents got both the morning and the afternoon newspapers. One was called the union and one was called the tribune. (I forget which was the morning one.) And then they merged into one newspaper - the Union-Tribune. Et voila

Had to follow up after I went down this memory rabbit hole.

I remember bc it was a holiday and I had sprung for good tix. All from memory: pads were up 1-0 and manny Ramirez hit a nuke to put the Dodgers up but the boys game back. But I’m the real winner as I have a 16 year old beach towel that I use 1-2 times a year.

If memory serves, the padres went up by a run and manny Ramirez hit an absolute nuke to take the lead. And the pads came back. That’s all from memory, so I could be wrong. I remember bc I sprung for good seats that game.

I was at that July 4, 2009 game and if I recall correctly it was a (patriotic) Beat L.A. beach towel giveaway. And, yes, I still have the towel.

I was little meh at first on the azul and silver color scheme but I think they can do some great things with it. I think the usl does a much better job overall with the unis in general
