I am a Midwest June day where the sky begins blazing red and sailors take warning; I am a stillness, a breeze, a tempest, and a soft purple twilight.
Loving friend ❤️

My plum tree bloomed beautifully this spring, we had a frost 28' f, and one and a half months later it looks like this. Any ideas what's happening here? TY

There are very few people who aren't descendants of immigrants living in the US at the moment. How can we all so easily forget our own family histories?
"I want people to be safe and protected. I want to live on the right side of history. I am an immigrant. My parents are refugees from Chile. We fled a dictatorship and I was privileged enough to grow up in the United States after asylum in Denmark. I stand by those protections, always."

Book 20? Of the year. I should keep better records. "The Lost Apothecary." Someone sent this to me as a gift. Quick read.

The Goldfinch✅
Loved it. Not my typical fare.
Onto The Last Apothecary.
Book 10 (?) of 2025 which is not a lot for some but for me, a reader at bedtime and sometimes rainy weekends, I'm pleased.

Practice corsage for prom. Beyond cookie cutter roses, this cost me $20 to make the corsage and boutineere. If you have suggestions on how to keep them fresh longer or affix them super strongly, please lmk 🌼

Apple blossoms, pulmenaria (leaf looks like a diseased lung, I guess), spring beauty, and this weird type of tomatoe that self seeds and grows vigorously each year. That was one naturally decaying tomato!

Books are these living, breathing things. My favorite part of reading second hand books is the discovery of little inscriptions, of passages underlined, pages earmarked. It's like sharing a secret with a person through space and time, and gives me pause and hope and appreciation for the shared

I also dislike year 2025. Ash looks perturbed as the rain comes in torrents.

A ridiculous storm system is rolling through..Cookie Bear, making a rare appearance, checks out the open window and gusty winds. Sad thing: Our children will have to live with this and worse now as not climate alteration increases.

Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead was an important read.
It hurt my soul to read what was inflicted and endured and the worst part is the racism that persists today.
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte up next.

Reminder to get severe weather prepared. Get a plan for dangerous weather in place, friends. Stats available at NOAA on last year's turmoil.
