Conference tournaments are starting in college basketball and that makes me very happy. If I watch enough of these games, then I can pretend like I'm knowledgeable when it comes time to fill out my brackets in a couple weeks.

I joined Flashes with an alt account but I don’t know who else is using it. Please add me over there if we are friends.

Sometimes when I'm cooking I'll narrate what I'm doing for the dog like I'm hosting a cooking show. He doesn't understand what I'm saying but he always seems very interested.

Had a near-death experience this afternoon after almost being hit by a car that blew through a crosswalk and, you know, I just really didn't need that on top of everything else that's going on in the world.

In the latest episode of Our Health Insurance System Is Stupid, today I have to break up with my therapist because she's starting a private practice that won't be in-network anymore.

A good thing that has happened recently is that I’ve reconnected with a good friend of mine from college, who also happens to be in a band, and he sent me copies of three of their records.

I've been mentally struggling lately, and I think a lot of it is because there's a coup happening in our city—and everyone knows it—but, like, normal life is still happening. Grocery shopping and dog walks and dinner dates, even though we all know the world is on fire. It's such a disconnect.

No-boil lasagna noodles feel like magic to me because I don’t understand the science behind them, but I don’t want anyone to explain it because the truth probably isn’t that interesting.

There are definitely a lot of advantages to being tall but this morning I also hit my head on a cabinet while leaning over the sink.

Before we moved next to the zoo, I never had to think about encountering a media circus on a morning dog walk.

The Red Wings’ intermission report on FanDuel Sports Network is sponsored by the Michigan Problem Gambling Hotline, and I think that says everything you need to know about sports media right now.

I'm very happy that pandas are back at the National Zoo, but I am not excited that starting tomorrow our neighborhood is probably going to be a traffic nightmare (both vehicle and pedestrian) for the foreseeable future.

It’s weird being a Lions fan living in DC right now. Everyone is excited about the local team and normally I would cheer for them to do well (since Snyder is gone), but we just really need this.

As a Michigan fan I’m predisposed to like him, but every time I hear his voice as a commentator I think, “UGH shut up Tom Brady.”

I’m on call for jury duty starting today so I have to call in later to see if I need to report tomorrow. But…the courts are closed because it’s a national day of mourning, so who is staffing that operation?

When the Weather Channel is reporting from your city, it’s usually a sign that things aren’t going great. Luckily, aside from dog walks, we don’t have to venture outside today.

I’m a little bummed because I want to watch Nikki Glaser host the Golden Globes tonight but the Lions are playing in their most important regular season game ever at the same time and I can’t miss that.
