yeah, i'm finding that KOF's unique timing is a part of it's identity and it's difficulty. for an oldhead, i think it's cool. Kyo's a legitimately hard character to pilot, and he is canonically a legitimately brutal fighter. he's so cool he MAKES you want to get better (this post is Kyo-pilled lol)

you can do it! 10s and 11s are where you really have to start "knowing the song", combination of just practicing the chart multiple times, but also listening to the song until you basically memorize it
