THEY SHOULD BE HOME PREPARING FOR THANKSGIVING WITH THEIR FAMILIES. INSTEAD, NOW THEIR FAMILIES ARE HOPING THEY SURVIVE. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN BY ACCIDENT. IT HAPPENED BECAUSE PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP SENT NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS INTO WASHINGTON, D.C. ON AUGUST 11, 2025 IN A DEPLOYMENT A FEDERAL COURT HAS ALREADY RULED ILLEGAL, THESE TROOPS WERE SENT INTO THE STREETS WITHOUT LAWFUL AUTHORITY, WITHOUT THE TRAINING NEEDED TO ENFORCE ANY LAW, AND WITHOUT ANY REAL MISSION. About 30% of Federal workers are veterans. Rather than help people pay for their health insurance, Republicans and Donald Trump shut down the government and went on a firing spree that especially hurts those who served.

Thiel’s talks, which began on 15 September and ended on Monday, were long and sweeping, mingling biblical passages, recent history and philosophy and sometimes deviating into conspiracy theories. He peppered them with references to video games and TV shows along with musings on JRR Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. He likewise recalled conversations with Elon Musk and Benjamin Netanyahu and spoke at length about how he thinks Bill Gates is “a very, very awful person”.
