this needs major renovations to make it fit for purpose, and a fundraiser has been set up, which we have been able to contribute to. 

There are so many good people doing great things in our communities- it’s wonderful that because of you we can help further their work.

7 Ashton Community Fridge is a volunteer-run non-profit initiative that aims to reduce food waste and support local residents in all aspects of their lives.

Not just a foodbank, the Fridge helps to ensure that nutritious food doesn’t go to waste whilst also

6 R, a psychological therapist and funder, has been supporting a neurodivergent young person. On visiting her client at home, R discovered that her mum is finding it hard to feed the family and pay bills without staying out of debt. A big food shop will help enormously and we are happy to oblige.

H has asked for a contribution of £300 to buy a good and economical washing machine to alleviate the worry and to allow her to continue her training without the extra stress at home.

5 H is supporting a talented artist, crafter, and mother of two as she explores a new career in art therapy. She has recently gone into crisis mode because her washing machine has broken and she is handwashing everything.

The rebuilding of the area is slow, and he has put together a fundraiser to help the family, and J has asked for a contribution from us.

4 another of our members, J, has a brother who lives in Montego Bay in Jamaica. Luckily his home was not destroyed in the devastating hurricane of a few weeks ago, but he is currently housing a family who have lost everything.

3 A hard-working and reliable volunteer at the refugee free shop in Athens is trying to complete his degree in order to move forward with his life, but cannot afford the final payment. Friends of his have approached us for a contribution towards his fees, and we wish him all the best for the future.

2 J has taken in her friend’s daughter after a relationship breakdown with her siblings. J is trying to make her home as welcoming and comfortable as possible but desperately needs a bed and some drawers for her new guest. We’ve been able to provide these.

She needs some support with removals and is really struggling. Her support officer has asked for some financial help to assist her with the move, which will in turn help her mental health, and hopefully enable her to be reunited with her children soon.

1 one of our housing association members messaged us about a domestic abuse survivor she is supporting, who has to downsize her home for various complicated reasons involving an ongoing custody battle with her ex partner over her children.

Our gift will hopefully help her feel less up against it - often, the fact that a bunch of strangers care enough to help is a boost in itself.

5 S nominated a mum who needs a new cooker. She's worked hard to get herself out of debt, but feels as though she takes one step forward, two steps back, all the time. She's fighting to support her family but the constant obstacles are impacting her mental health, which in turn impacts her parenting

Her housing association has applied for urgent and special consideration from the Home Office as the family is destitute, but these things take time. In the current climate, there is less than usual to support people in their position.
We can ease the burden a little in the meantime, thanks to you.

His wife came home on the prebooked flight but has no access to public funds, no savings, no way of supporting her grieving children. They are surviving off food banks but have no money left at all.

4 A family of four children have just lost their dad, after he died on a last trip home to Nigeria before he was about to start cancer treatment here in the UK, where he worked full time, self employed, no benefits claimed.

but there is a delay in response due to the demand on their service at this time of year. The family are struggling with everything- replacing belongings, buying food, paying bills. Your generosity means we can really help them during this incredibly challenging period.

He's been warned that a case will be lodged with environmental health, but in the meantime M has had to throw away many of their personal belongings (including cots) because of mould damage

Home Start made a referral to warm homes for the family, for some oil-filled radiators and energy vouchers,

The family are living in very poor quality private rented housing and having a lot of trouble with the landlord. Currently, the home has no working heating and is covered in damp and mould. The family have asked for the heating to be repaired, but the landlord is being quite difficult.

3 “M” is a young mum of 6 month old baby twins. She lives with her mum, (who works full-time on a low income) and has no support from the babies’ father. The family have no recourse to public funds, so are unable to access any benefits.
