I recently got an email (I'm paraphrasing because it was sent to my work email) that wanted me to interview for SW jobs so their team could "help" do the work and share the income. They claimed to be Singapore based but I figured it was China & espionage. Interesting to think it could also be this.

The control tower side of the system was definitely working and visually alerted for 10s of seconds before the incident. ATC procedures have been changed so that it's one operator's job to constantly monitor the screen since other ATCOs must switch their attention to different flights etc..

There has been a system in place since ~2011*. Initially, there was some confusion about NOTAMs etc. on the system but I believe it was concluded to be operational.

*I can't find any info on it being updated or changed but that is a possibility
