Talking with a twenty something white man, who definitely leans left about how he views the United States right now. He’s disillusioned and frightened by Trump, but still thinks there’s goodness in people. It’s worth noting: he doesn’t do any social media. I wish I had that sense of high mindedness.

My gambling, alcoholic, drug addicted cousin, who has never maintained consistent employment, and has had multiple lawsuits against his employers, told my self sufficient (progressive) Mom, that there is a new sheriff in town, and he is getting rid of the nanny state, and handouts. He’s nearing 60!
