It's not just that Digital ID cards are a bad idea that will probably cost billions, not work and/or not solve anything. It's that it's exactly the sort of thing that a less scrupulous government (and yeah, that's still possible) will abuse.

Honestly, I should crack on with my current writing project today. The #Rapture is no excuse, as I'm definitely being left behind.
Of course, the downside is there'll be fewer readers after today but I'm reasonably confident those departing were never in my target readership anyway.
