Since it’s Fusion Friday I decided to listen to a few of my Japanese presses this afternoon. When I looked at the cover I remembered I deployed to the Philippines because a typhoon was hitting Okinawa and my bedroom window cracked and rain soaked a few of my albums including this.

I have a Japanese copy of Chick Corea’s “Now He Sings, Now He Sobs”, but it doesn’t come close in overall sound quality as this Tone Poet reissue does. Just the intricate sounds Roy Hayes is making on his drums.

This was like one of the first Tone Poets released after Wayne’s “Etcetera” and Chick’s “Now He Sings, Now He Sobs”. Playing a few of my Tone Poets tonight and celebrating the great Sam Rivers birthday tonight too.

Getting ready for my colonoscopy tomorrow morning listening to Hank Mobley Quartet a Music Matters Jazz reissue. I love the sound quality of the 45 RPM albums.

I didn’t know this recording existed until I saw an advertisement on Facebook talking about its release. It came in the mail yesterday and I usually don’t play anything that hasn’t been cleaned, but I had to make an exception for this one.

I pulled this out this morning just to listen to my homie Buster Williams. My aunt went to the High with Buster, so I’m always listening to this from time to time. The Jazz Crusaders live at the Lighthouse in 1968.

It’s Trane’s birthday today and I’ve been listening to all his work. One of my favorite Trane pieces is “Giant Steps” which is an Analogue Productions Atlantic Records 75th Anniversary Series reissue.
