Arc Raiders solo queue is America: A place where, more often than not, everyone manages to work together for the greater good, despite the insistence of the powers that be on providing three guns for every one person.

And I've seen @polygoncherub.bsky.social show off all kinds of procedural generation tools that let him create worlds more quickly. But for voice acting? I dunno, I don't think I'd be cool with that even if it did sound good.

I mean, I like it when technology lets fewer humans do more work. I'm not mad at bulldozers because I want there to be 200 guys manually carrying rocks instead. The animation stuff, also "AI," is pretty cool!

Using it for the in-game call-outs seems fine. ("Over there, a hairspray bottle, by the ridge.") For an actual character, it's only convincing as a bored actor.

"AI" is a broad category and I recognize text-to-speech isn't the same as a large language model, but it just don't sound so good! You should hire an actor to do art.

I'm trying to talk like it isn't the present moment. (The present moment is one where I wake up every morning and slam a 32-ounce bottle of AI Haterade.)
