A break from making - looking at the #ThinSectionThursday posts. Here is one of my favourites - a lovely 1.8G old Kunene anorthosite, Angola. 🧪⚒️.

During Christmas dinner, a colleague asked what was our highlight of 2024. I gave a very non-geo answer (..Fontaines DC 😅), but my geo highlight would have been seeing a beautiful massif-type anorthosite for the first time. Hope to see you again, Rogaland, in 2025 or at least 2026 😉! ⚒️🪨

When overwhelmed with everyday tasks, I browse photos from my last field trip... Blusky! I hope you will find proterozoic massif-type anorthosites as amazing as much as I. 🧪⚒️🪨

Getting excited by a rock that is not igneous (or metamorphic) is a new feeling for me. It’s all because of the microstructure! 🤩⚒️🧪

Thin section Thursday! The reason why I love plagioclase: great looking, variety of shapes (low/high AR) & great for texture analyses <3

Just got a beautiful notebook with a Rum thin section sketch engraved on the cover made by my student! How amazing is this! 🧪⚒️
