Saint Patrick was born in Britain. At age 16 he was captured by Irish raiders who attacked his family’s estate, was sold into slavery and held 6 years until escaping. During that time, he turned to religion, becoming a devout Christian. He is remembered on March 17th, the date he died in 460AD.

The Buckle Sez - On March 3, 1863 the 6 cent postage stamp was issued. It was good for the first ounce of a letter. In 1883 was dropped to 4 cents, 1885 dropped to 2 cents, 1917 raised to 3 cents, 1919 dropped to 2 cents.

The Buckle Sez - On February 17, 1909 Geronimo died. He was a Bedonkohe Apache leader of the Chiricahua Apache. Born in 1829. Geronimo had conducted the last of the Indian wars, but proved to be an embarrassment for the US Army due to numerous escapes and being very hard to track down.

The Buckle Sez - The feast of Saint Valentine was established by Pope Gelasius I in AD496 to be celebrated on February 14 in honor of Saint Valentine of Rome, who died on that date in AD269. May you have an enjoyable Valentines Day!

The Buckle Sez - On February 1, 2003 The Space shuttle Columbia broke up over Texas, at the time going 13,824 MPH at an altitude of 200,700 Ft. Approximately 10 minutes from landing in Florida. The shuttle first flew on April 12, 1981.

Reaping what he sows. Donald Trump that put a freeze on hiring any new air traffic controllers, well it’s starting to come full circle. Last night’s horrible crash in DC was made possible due to one air traffic controller having to work two tower positions at the same time. Just sayin….
