@simonwillison.net Any idea why using gemini.google.com with 2.5 pro experimental is WILDLY worse at "Generate an SVG of a pelican riding a bicycle." than using "llm -m gemini-2.5-pro-exp-03-25" with the precise same prompt? I can reproduce this over dozens of attempts.

Another question for you: how do I force it to use the trigger word? Autocaptioning only applies the trigger word to about a fifth of the image captions.

But who's to say Hans isn't also a visual artist? My thesis relied heavily on @hansopdebeeck.bsky.social's work - see Figure 8 of pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19357342/ . When I defended, my advisor @gkaguirre.bsky.social made a large metal version of Hans's stimulus space that I had used.

But it's ok, because now that a semi-famous person has complained about it on bsky, someone's gone in and 'fixed' it, because that's how computers work now. (Of course, if you were looking for an actual answer rather than the Grace Hopper approximation, you're still out of luck.)
