And maybe a base setting not to notify anyone apart from the author of the post and the person we are replying too, by default? I dread waking up to 12 notifications from people talking not to me and not under my post, just because I was the first commenter.

I use a plugin that makes text fully opaque, and get regularly confused by placeholders because they can't be selected and deleted. I guess visible cursors/highlighting are offending to designers too, because often there is no indication that the field is now in focus.

Is there some default processing, like with raw photos? Unless you go rather deep in the raw converter settings and switch it off, you don't get to see what it really looks like 'straight from the camera', so maybe they just use that, and waste space.
