That’s a good position you take on the word “cat”

Here is Australia we have the same problem. Instead of defining what a safe environment and ensuring minimum compliance to operate in a market. Lower pricing for no-ad plans, restrictions of algorithms for addiction, easier tools for parents to add content above a minimum level, etc.

I know again - that’s minimum parity with other ERPs in the same price bracket. Again as a cloud solution you expect them to take care of all the backend data components to make that happen. The PowerBi apps are interesting but constrained by the same problem and lack of extensibility.

Ironically it’s useful analytics in power bi that has mostly unlocked productivity for our team combined with obvious automations and notifications. I’d love better integration there. My god real-time data would be transformative.

You should hear what customers say. When the dust settles on this the pointless technical debt and loss of focus on other real areas of need should result in repercussions for the team. But ultimately it speaks more to Microsoft’s leadership and cultural of top-down incentives to guide strategy.

It isn’t like any one cat has a monopoly on cat in box pictures

Shouting into the void from down under unfortunately. It’s been years and many low difficulty, high impact needs haven’t been addressed. I don’t hold high hopes.

And one all key competitors provide. The analysis view is a short term fix that creates UX confusion and has counter intuitive limitations. Microsoft should include a synchronised meaningful data warehouse that respects relationships out of box and is realtime.

Seems like something a Microsoft agent could handle to go through all the apps in appsource and evaluate if company still exists, when it was last updates, how many companies have actually used it and how old the code is. Suspect a good cleanse is required like my 12 year olds drawer.

Well if you don’t have eggs you have to fill the aisles with some products not dependent on the weather or disease vectors

If you doing some deep thinking I’d tackle the whole archived documents model first. That has no conceivable benefit, adds massive complexity to adding fields and confusion for users. Offload change history to cloud if you want and give full versioning…

I hope the team is working with faster and potentially local models. I finally got a simple search to work based on a PO number. It took 11 seconds to return a response, vs Alt-Q search which took less than 1 second. I don't think this kind of performance is viable long term.

It’s a great point though. Best practice would be to have a change log centralised. I know each individual app provider might have on their website, but in general app stores don’t force you to go to separate websites to find out what has changed.

Think this is a bigger problem of lack of investment in platform by product team. I doubt (or hope) it’s not a lack of passion. Filter construction in new sap web client and Odoo are blowing them out of the water. Every release they improve. #mdyn365bc has been stagnant for years.

Key take homes. For SME, worksheets aren’t workable, forecasts aren’t useful, you need both inductive and deductive reasoning, not just statistical analysis and any AI is best used to answer small questions rather than the solve the entire problem.

Needed to figure out what sales orders get consumed by forecasts, how to split monthly forecast data and align with purchase order arrivals (we are largely container freight) in lumpy arrivals and customers will wait. Main business goals spot problems of too much or too little months in advance… w

It’s all hype I hope but the product teams do seem to take it literally - they couldn’t do this if they try. Look how many years they have taken and they have barely shifted architecture of business central.
January 2, 2025 at 7:54 PM
Unfortunately it looks like customers are shouting into the void. Actual product teams seems powerless to translate top-down directives into business value - hence the desperation for partners to adopt. First year I’ve seriously considered another product as I spend all my time “hiding” new features

I think there is a lot of gaslighting going on with us being told how much “value” is being delivered and nothing about cost. We might see that change, but I’m not sure Microsoft is the one who will deliver breakthrough value given their own reality distortion field.
