You wanna establish atmosphere most importantly. The mood of the environment will allow you to fill in the gaps. For example, if you're describing a seaside but the mood is grim, you'd describe cold, crashing waves and a briny stench, not gently lapping waves and a fresh seabreeze

I've got multiple planets but the main one is technologically based around Iron Age Scandinavia and geographically based on Iceland, with a lot of Nordic/Celtic aesthetic inspiration (but it's escapist fantasy so no sexism/racism/homophobia and such)
