Young men voted for Democratic candidates by large margins. Spanberger will be Virginia’s first woman governor, and according to exit polls, won 18-29 year old men, 57 to 42. Similarly, in New Jersey, Sherrill won them 56 to 44. Mamdani, the most left-wing high-profile Democrat, got 68% of young men. And all three Democrats got over 80% of young women.

The Pennsylvania Republican Party demanded an apology from Gov. Josh Shapiro, a Democrat, for the banner on the state’s Department of Human Services website. “Public service isn’t a political weapon and using a government website to fuel your partisan agenda is indefensible,” the group said in a post on X. The Pennsylvania department said the banner was meant to highlight that “Republicans control the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House, and the White House and have failed to pass a federal budget, leading to this federal shutdown,” leaving funding insufficient to make SNAP assistance available “without further action from the federal government.”

A bubbling measles outbreak in the upstate of South Carolina has forced 153 unvaccinated children out of the classroom and into quarantine for a minimum of 21 days. In Minnesota, where a small outbreak has been growing for the last month, 118 students are also under quarantine in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area after being exposed to the highly contagious virus, health officials said Friday. The restrictions mean three weeks of remote learning as parents monitor for fever, rash and other symptoms. “Communities are having to bear the price of quarantining so many children,” said Michael Osterholm, an infectious disease expert and the director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota. “Expect more of the same. This is going to happen more and more frequently.”

Federal prosecutors in the Jan. 6 case said that Packer has been a "habitual criminal offender for 25 years with 21 convictions for mostly drunk driving, but also for larceny, drug possession, and forgery." He was incarcerated for several previous offenses, they said.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro recently told Fox News that her office is understaffed and needs 90 prosecutors, as well as 60 investigators and paralegals. The Trump administration has fired numerous federal prosecutors who worked on the Jan. 6 cases, contributing to the shortage.
