Back around 1973-1975 I would catch “bunker” this fish for bait in sheepshead bay to go striper fishing to catch and sell to restaurants in the NY area. The fishing in the Hudson River was not allowed due to pollution. The strippers in the river had lessons and a bad color. Bay fish did not.
