It's crazy. As to possibility of an "illegal order" - the President is also Commander-In-Chief, saying 'no' would be a crime in itself.
And does he want a Civil War? I wouldn't be surprised if he has a deep-seated belief that the USA must be "purified".

It's simple Rob, state-issued ID cards empower state oppression of the citizen. Modern history is littered with the chilling consequences of "Papers Please".
That being said... we have so many non-citizens in the UK now, hiding in the shadows and draining state resources, that _maybe_ we need ID.

P.S. I'm also old enough that Autism was not a commonly recognised phenomenon in my yoof (nor Asperger's), so even if DLA or PIP had existed we would not have been recognised as being worthy of some social assistance - more likely to have been dumped in a mental institution!

Fortunately I have become inured, by prolonged exposure, to the risk of allergic paroxysms triggered by either the moronic mutterings of politicians or their wannabe critics 😉
