mozilla loves to tell me that compact mode in firefox is unsupported and i'm pretty sure they've been telling me this for like 4 years now. still works perfectly fine. still looks way better than the "supported" modes. browser.compactmode.show my beloved.

i've been trying to render text in opengl from a font file using freetype and it's been a nightmare, honestly. vector vs bitmap fonts, off-by-one errors and oh my god the TEXT LAYOUT. i understand where harfbuzz sits in the stack now.
