Veteran. Ex-entertainment reporter. Retired geek. Jamiroquai and Bill Paxton superfan. Movie and animation nut.
Watching Painkiller - the Netflix show about OxyContin. Not as good as Dopesick but still great. After working six years in a doctor’s office, this really makes me look at drug reps in a different light. Not saying they are all bad or anything, but they really do push these drugs for money.

So happy the Atari 50 collection dropped this Namco Legendary Pack DLC. Playing early version of Dig Dug and Pac-Man on a Switch 2 truly makes me happy. I loved Atari 2600 Pac-Man as a kid. Was great playing on a home console even though it had a “horrible reputation”.

Watched 48 Hours for the very first time. Loved it - especially the chemistry between Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte. Very racist movie tho. Enjoyed seeing Jonathan Banks and Brion James pop up. Commando totally stole this movie’s music. Never saw the sequel either. Guess that’s next.

Watched Roofman. Great crime movie with Channing Tatum based on a criminal who lived in a Toys R Us after a prison break. But really it just made me long for the days of going holiday shopping at Toys R Us. No matter as a kid or an adult, Toys R Us was always something special.

Finishing up One Battle After Another - nowhere near PTA’s best. I’m sure it’ll win all the Oscars. The music took me right out of the film. Teyana Taylor was the best part of the film by far and she’s not in it enough. Leo was okay I guess.

Started my Saturday morning with a depressing and heartwarming faith based movie Soul on Fire - true story of a boy living his life after burning 100% of his body. Shows how strong and resilient a human could be. Nice to see William H Macy still acting.

My gorgeous kitty Luna started growling at me and gave me the stinkeye.

I immediately took a photo of her.

That’s the post.

So SmashJT is selling matcha so everyone can support his brand. Maybe now he can afford his house and try to pay legal bills.

Meanwhile you can just support @alyssamerc.bsky.social and her Patreon while getting wonderful articles. Money better spent.

Finally picked up the newest edition of the Sodomaniac DVD from Nick - he’s had it for me for a couple years. My former YouTube show “Best Comedy You’ve Never Seen “ makes an appearance as a special feature on the DVD which is very cool. Sodomaniac is funny, gross, and a truly feminist film.

You know what’s great about the 80’s? The lettering you got on shirts at the boardwalk in Jersey. We should bring that back.

Also me as a blonde… crazy pants.

I think my buddy Nick liked Predator Badlands more than I did. I thought it was okay. If a Predator with a Napoleon Complex teaming up with a Gen Z C3P0 to hunt on Pandora sounds good, this movie is for you. Some cheesy Disney stuff in this, but def better than AVP Requiem.

Olivia Colman’s smile makes me happy.

Watching Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair. Three things: 1) The Bride is one of the best female protagonists ever. 2) RZA is the unsung hero of the film. His score is fantastic. 3) The club scene in full color is just craziness. Such a magnificent movie.

I think I should introduce @planetx.bsky.social to @griffintalkscomics.bsky.social and get a singing of the new Galaxy book (upon release) at Final Boss Comics in NJ. She’s so close and her books are amazing!!!

Roadhouse 2022 was great. Conor McGregor can’t act but the fights were incredible. Music was really good. Gyllenhaal’s Dalton was outstanding. Didn’t set up a sequel but they could totally make one. Dalton goes to the Double Deuce or something. I dunno.

Watching the 2022 Roadhouse. Lacks the charm of the original but my god it’s got some terrific action. Jake Gyllenhaal really has the well mannered but tough guy thing down pat. Still have a bit to go - looking forward to seeing where it goes.

I didn’t think an 8 year old Metroidvania clone based on a failed movie would get me back into gaming, but I’m having a great time playing The Mummy Demastered on the Switch. I might actually finish this game at this rate. Proud of me.

My Wikked Lil Grrrls 20th Anniversary vinyl by Esthero has arrived. It is gorgeous and directly supports her which is amazing. I’m spinning it right now and it’s just as beautiful, sharp, and beautiful. There’s a few copies left you can snag here: esthero.net

Was looking at horror reviews and found this one. I’m sorry if it’s supposed to be a bad thing but Candyman 3: Titties sounds like a hilarious movie to watch on Halloween.

I read somewhere “If you liked Weapons you may like Bring Her Back.” And the verdict is… I didn’t like Bring Her Back. Was not a good follow up to the amazing Talk To Me. Little gorier than I was expecting so that was nice. Well directed, good acting, script was meh.

Watching The Abyss again - it’s James Cameron’s slowest film but perhaps his best after Terminator 2. Good strong female protagonist in Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. Ed Harris looks good in a wet shirt. I like how it deals with sea aliens. Could be real life honestly.

Still sad about Tron Ares.

I found a picture of me with my old school Adidas Tron jacket. It makes me a bit happier.

Maybe I’ll rewatch Tron and Tron Legacy tomorrow. Cheer me up.

The Terminator still holds up some 40 years later. Effects look great. I think it plays better as an 80’s slasher than a sci-fi film. The music and editing really make it more of a horror film. Not that that’s bad. Arnold is just very menacing.
October 18, 2025 at 8:48 PM
Watching The Terminator. Not only does Lance Henriksen not killed by an alien in Aliens, you don’t actually see him get killed by the T-800. You can say it’s implied perhaps, but you don’t see him get shot or killed. Could have easily survived.
