The “benefits” he’s talking about are cheap treats and consumer goods. Those don’t exist because of the “planned economy” or “social welfare” they exist because the hukou system which creates a legally distinct underclass of people to exploit for cheap labor

I always wondered why modern architectural movements like brutalism were so insistent on removing all frills and ornamentation to show how they’re creating modern egalitarian society and now I kinda get it.

I think the much healthier outlook is to accept that victims are actually far more likely to perpetuate the crimes committed against them, and that the truly noble and righteous are those who break that cycle and do not succumb to their base instincts and emotions.

I think it’s tough for people on the left to deal with this reality because there is a natural inclination to side with victims and for some, to have a distorted world view where victimhood somehow imbues the victim with a moral righteousness, even though that is obviously not the case.

Russia, the American right, Israel, Nazi Germany, contemporary Germany with the AFD, the British right, I’m sure I could think of more but it’s insane how much of reactionary politics really just comes down to having a massive victim’s complex and it’s not actually any deeper than that.

He lead nationals polls all throughout the run up to the primaries (Biden=blue, Bernie=yellow). The point where you see Bernie overtake is from Iowa to Super Tuesday. Prioritizing early states like Iowa and NH to build momentum was Bernie’s strategy. it almost worked, but he wasn’t the front runner
