welp magstripe is used nowadays as a fallback if your emv is damaged or acting up, some bad actors can purposefully take a hammer to the emv after cloning the magstrip off a stolen card (w/ PIN) and go to any store with it, try to contactless, it fails, cashier asks you to swipe, enter pin, done :3

Even so there are still skimmers out there that can read data from the EMV/mag strip+ get your PIN with a camera or overlay on the keypad. There are probably some people smart enough to crack the EMV algorithm and write their own EMV chips after which nothing stops you to drain the account at an ATM

I mean 3dsecure is only for online purchases but PIN authentification is used everywhere in the EU nowadays. Contactless payments that use the EMV chip are the weak point if you get mugged (just spam >20€ transactions, no PIN) or the magnetic strip which you can read and write to another card
