A great compilation with a sickly, misleading sleeve that seemingly covers all the facets of his career apart from the coked-up, pissed-up in-jokes nobody else found funny. It's not everything you'll ever need, but it's a great tracklisting.

That was bloody always in the Camden Music and Video Exchange for £3 whenever I went in, as well as this total atrocity of a cover from The Hollies. I wonder if both were designed by the same person...

The regency pubs and bars of Leamington are great, but there are minor disadvantages.

From the 30th June 1986 copy of Record Mirror, a brief interview with Jarvis and the bold prediction "I think Pulp will have a hit record in the next 18 months".
It was not to be.

This van went past me today earlier in Leamington (note - it happened quickly so I didn't get an actual photo - this is from his website).
Imagine if it were that Tom Baker, though. How marvellous would that be?
"Oh good heavens, no, you will never flush a turd while the cistern is in that state".

Would anyone know what these mushrooms growing in my garden are? They’re right by an old tree stump. Not thinking of consuming them, just worried about the daft dog getting her beard around them if they’re poisonous.

You can’t even use a toilet cubicle these days without being exposed to the culture wars. At least this is the oldest form of social media argument I suppose.

Just reading an interview with Ian Levine in a 1986 copy of Record Mirror, principally to promote his record label. Still, though, he can't help but drift off-topic by talking about his least favourite - er, I mean favourite - TV show.
IAN, YOU'RE HERE TO PROMOTE YOUR MUSIC.

Classic magazine covers of our time. Stuart Adamson treads where music journalists daren't.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - Reddit is where the critical conversations happen, and thank God for that.

I like it when you use Google Maps and spot people who are excited to be within photographic range of the Google Car. These three cards outside Oxfam Books in Bloomsbury can't believe their eyes.

It's quite something when a sit-com's funniest moment is the opening intro card. John Inman's "Odd Man Out" about a man running a stick of rock factory.

Some window keys in the crevice of a tree in the local park. If I’d come across these in an eighties text adventure game they would probably give me access to the dead knight’s cottage deep within the ruined forest, but in real life? Who knows.

Blog update: As The Cult go back to the top of the indie charts again in August 85, we take a look at what else went on below - namely Nick Cave, Terry & Gerry, APB, The Janitors, The Triffids, Fad Gadget, The Very Things, The Only Ones and Shop Assistants.

The dog is extremely distressed because her bird toy is failing in the most perplexing way.

I sometimes like to check in on JK's website when certain "stuff" is going on to see what he thinks. He rarely lets me down.

And as if to prove my point, I just opened my copy of Help up and this old receipt fell out!

My wife bought this mug.
“That’s a very Lawrence mug,” I said.
“What does it have to do with Olivier?” She asked.
“No, not THAT Lawrence,” I replied.

I think I've just found my all-time favourite book review on Amazon (for "The Tonibell Story" about the ice cream vans, in case you're wondering).

I must have mentioned the absolute absurdity of the St Michael record label before now. Alongside a Jimi Hendrix compilation on M&S's own label, you could buy this cassette. I don't think this made it to vinyl, sadly.

Ever create an Excel Spreadsheet so bold, with so many different bright patchwork hues, that you constantly end up seeing Colin Baker in your mind's eye all day?
