Yeosang dried his eyes and Mingi gently brushed the soft sleeves of his sweater across his flushed cheeks. His heart clenched painfully at the sweet smile offered to him in gratitude. It was doing that a lot lately, his gut quickly flopping tumultuously in answer.

"I know, Mingi, but what if I'm the problem? Maybe this kind of love is what I deserve."

"I wish you'd just open your eyes and realize there's someone who would give anything to adore you right in front of you!" Mingi unexpectedly boiled over and his body braced against the deafening silence trailing the words that took even him by surprise. His flash-fire anger cooled instantly into icy shame, the shards prickling within his stomach and lungs.

"I have to go." Bless his long legs and bless his leg days. Mingi was halfway through the stairwell before Yeosang even cleared the first floor. He winced with every call of his name, forcing his body forward no matter how hard the thread of his heart tugged him back.

"Mingi!" Yeosang called, the name scratching his throat like brambles as he stumbled down the last of the steps. He was too late, the glass door of his apartment lobby already swinging closed and Mingi already swallowed by the hectic midday foot traffic.

i don't really have much to share for pawe so here's a rough draft/notes for my future crime syndicate wife yeosang fic

cw; domestic abuse

as abuse became the only social interaction he knew, he began to goad his husband. yeosang didn't need words to do it, just little acts that couldn't be proven intentional on paper but almost undeniably were. a barbed smirk here, a condescending laugh there, and pepper in some unimpressed intercourse.

eventually, his husband grew bored of him, leaving the estate for days, occasionally even weeks at a time. the reprieve wasn't as nice as it could have been, as he always returned with an anger he only seemed to resolve one way.

his vision cleared after recounting the story. he could still feel the ghost of wooyoung's trembling fingertips against his arm. the cook had sniffled in a way meant to conceal but very little went unnoticed by yeosang in his gilded cage.

"i'm okay, young-ah." he assured, for once closing the distance between them himself and allowing wooyoung to lean against his shoulder. it wasn't that he was averse to touch. he was just afraid he'd miss it too badly once it was gone.

of course, wooyoung wasn't stupid. he thankfully didn't press the issue but instead made sure he was a soft place for yeosang to land when his husband deigned to grace them with his presence, or when his thoughts began to collapse at the edges. wooyoung was exactly what yeosang had needed exactly when he had needed it.
