If you want, you can apply for a Chicago Public Library e-card just with a name and a zip code. Once you have that, you can have a Libby account. This applies to a bunch of other cities, but I know for sure a Chicago library card is super easy to get.

Great book suggestions. For anyone who with slightly younger kids. I read Whitebird by R.J. Palacio with my 8 yr old daughter. It is historical fiction, but has an amazing message for children and all people. She loved it too.
