The trees in the Forest are actual gossip queens. Their roots run deep and so do their knowledge. However, they are also very tricky and may maim you for entertainment.
The trees aren't indestructible and are weak to fire. Yet, hurting the trees will put you on the Crises and Godling's shit list.

The Forest has some funky dimensional properties, if you were to climb up one, you could be climbing forever. If you were to fall... well you may also be falling forever.
It's an infinite pocket dimension; the only way for you to get out is if a Crisis or Godling decides to help you.

More about the Harlequin Forest:
It is a pocket dimension that Godling can use to shortcut between regions of the world or use it to run away from enemies.
Inhabitants of the Forest include: the Crises (protectors of Mario's soul), talking flowers, and talking/walking trees

Since my horrorbrew is set in-universe, if he and the CH (they are literally always together) go to an alternate universe that is set in-game, they would feel extremely cramped!
If the game were to turn on, that person is essentially opening a door and inviting the Void into their world.

Petalfall can take Mario's memories of his various adventures and recreate so that Mario can 'replay' his adventures - either by himself or with his bro!

Mario also uses this to have various challenge runs to hone his skills!
