It was not a "tiny podunk" town, which is what you called it. "Podunk" is not the same as "small and rural."
It's not unusual for tourist agencies or local promoters to hype a community a bit -- but you sound like you are looking down on a community when you call a "podunk" place.

That's my hometown. Interesting to see that someone would call it a "podunk" town. You should go there and see for yourself.
