They don't see the communities that exist because those communities are non-white, non-christian, and transient. Sodom and Gahmorah type rhetoric that dehumanizes inhabitants and fuels the US vs them narrative that started with the civil rights movement, Nixon, and white flight.

Urban areas are full of fluidity while the suburbs and rural areas are composed of property owners resisting government over reach onto their property. They never cared about states rights just states ability to protect their property. They talk about L.A. as if no one lives there.
