Should the European Union impose stricter controls on media ownership to protect press freedom, even if it limits market competition and private investment?

Digital censorship on social media feels more oppressive because it watches everyone constantly, like Foucault’s panopticon, silencing voices subtly through algorithms and instant blocks. Traditional censorship is overt government bans, easier to resist.

That’s a great point. Giving young kids access to AI tools without limits can be risky because they might not understand what’s safe or accurate. There should be some rules or guidance to help them use these platforms responsibly instead of banning everything completely.

I agree with you. The ban might make social media safer, but it’s important to make sure young people have safe online spaces to move to. Without that, they might end up using unregulated AI platforms that could create even more problems.

Protecting kids online is important,
but a strict ban may limit learning and expression more than it helps.

“Does deferred judgment in digital discourse empower individuals, or oppress them more than traditional censorship?”

It can reduce harms like cyberbullying and addiction, But it may limit access to online communities and information; better safety rules may work better than a ban.

Agree: It can protect youth from harmful content and online risks.
Disagree: But it limits communication and access to information; regulation is better than a full ban.

Agree: Banning social media can help protect teens from harassment, harmful content, and addictive algorithms during key developmental years.
Disagree: It also limits freedom of expression and access to information, and may push teens toward less regulated platforms instead.

“Does Australia’s proposed social media ban meaningfully protect young people, or does it create new risks by pushing them toward unregulated AI platforms?”
