I not so fondly remember the Cold War in Europe.
Whenever the ”snowball” alarm went off, (typically at zero dark thirty) we had to grab out gear, and rush back to base to load up the tanks and head to the East German border.

Fun fact; it poured rain all day…then cleared up JUST in time for the wee ones, and after it was over, the wind picked up in HUGE way, and it’s still blowing.
