Give supplies directly to a homeless person you see in your neighborhood:
-Non-perishable food (and plastic utensils)
-Body wipes & dry shampoo
-First aid kit
-Hand sanitizer
-Bottles of water
-Sunscreen
-A portable thermal blanket
Make sure to use a backpack the person can keep!

Donate to items shelters probably don’t get enough of, like period products, socks, and children’s toothbrushes. Make sure you confirm what donations are accepted first! Bonus: if you have an FSA card, it will cover many necessary health products, like pads or diaper cream.

Hang a flag or sign in your front yard or front window that shows your support for a cause. Take a minute to research companies that actually support these causes with your flag or sign purchase. Sometimes people just need to know someone else is on their side.

To avoid burnout over the next 4 years, pick 2-3 causes that mean the most to you. Racial justice, immigration, LGBTQIA+ rights, reproductive freedom, etc. Without ignoring everything else, your chosen causes should be where you're willing to focus the *most& time, energy, and money.

Don't just mindlessly spread fear and hate. Bookmark reliable fact-checking sites like Politifact, AP Fact Check, or FactCheck dot org, and help fight disinformation from BOTH sides.

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY. If you don't have a library card yet, get one. Find out what services your library provides in addition to lending out books. If you prefer ebooks, many libraries have digital copies of books you can borrow.
