Not sure how familiar you are with cars but at 100K that's when timing belts and water pumps are due. Can be a significant cost. Lots of cars have switched back to timing chains though which should easily last 200k

I like the way the Spark looks but i like tiny cars. Just bought an 09 Yaris because the 1.5l 4cyl is the toughest engine from Toyota. Same engine our 04 Prius had which is still running at 300k but the car was wrecked twice. I daily an 02 avalanche with 220k (last year of basic small block Chevy)

Yeah and if it's new enough it probably won't ever matter. I'm at the extreme end in that I only buy vehicles with 150k miles or more

As a sometime mechanic, Subaru can really be a maintenance headache.
I would advocate for the Fit as front wheel drive with winter tires beats all wheel drive with regular tires anyway.
Rust is a huge issue there and I have no experience with that as I've only bought from Texas and socal

I don't worry about ethanol free in my vehicles but I do get it for equipment because it's more stable for storage
