That’s okay, and I will respect that. Thanks for conversing regardless.

I think it’s good for socialists to discuss, it can help achieve a greater understanding of theory and organizing. However, you have pointed out you don’t wish to continue discussing so I will stop.

That’s respectable

Red Star is a good caucus, we have our little disagreements but we have always been working close with them, we are trying to make the DSA a mass socialist party and be independent from the democrats.

I don’t think you’re following my argument, I will rephrase it, the form that patriotism took in Russia and China were liberators because of their material and historical conditions, such as their relationship with imperialism. This isn’t the same as in the US
May 4, 2025 at 5:33 PM
Okay, but I don’t think that follows my argument.

I am also part of Marxist Unity Group

Indeed, I am actually trying to start a chapter in South Texas, I’ve already recruited some 3 people and I will see if we can do a tabling event on the local college

What makes you think I’m a terminally online leftist
May 4, 2025 at 5:30 PM
Thats irrelevant, by progressive I meant anti-imperialist/working class led. I would consider the pro-Palestine movement in America to be anti-imperialist, yet they’re clearly not patriotic.
May 4, 2025 at 4:57 PM
I do not sincerely think there is a progressive movement to try to reclaim patriotism, as it stands today, it is the tool of reaction.

There is some rethorical use for patriotism, is it really patriotic to send billions of dollars to Israel when Americans are suffering at home? It’s a good argument, but it can only get us so far, we need to look at forms and content of things.
May 4, 2025 at 3:55 PM
There is a reason why anti imperialist action generally takes an anti-patriotic stance, such as burning the US flag during the Vietnam and Iraq war, while those supporting said imperialist instances wave the flag with passion.
May 4, 2025 at 3:54 PM
I think trying to use patriotism made sense in the 1930s, and also in other contexts such as fighting imperialist aggression such as with China, but the form which patriotism always takes place in America is settler colonialism and imperialism.

Tis good stuff!!
