The design of the dashboard is all the more remarkable, given that there is very little depth available in the Renault 5 for any sort of dash.

These might've been a better bet than the catapult launched Hurricanes used to protect North Atlantic merchant convoys. It would've offered a chance of recovering and reusing the aircraft.

I wasn't aware of those conversions. I must've been thinking of the later Rover Mini Cabriolet, which had some involvement from Lamm Autohous in Achern.
