One of the women, Marie Koré, is our inspiration here in 1949.

In 1949, in an act of public maternity, Marie Koré, Odette Ekra, Anne-Marie Raggi, and thousands of other women marched on the Grand Bassam prison. The first march ended in victory: the liberation of Marcelline Sibo; the second march accelerated the process of independence for the Ivory Coast.

We are making use of the time that roadworks are taking place in front of the library - making access difficult but not impossible - to do some renovation works too.
