Never heard of her…. surprised that Uncle Carl didn’t give her more juicy roles considering his studio’s infamous nepotism. Maybe some family feud had happened?

Marion Gering was one of Hollywood’s most underrated directors. Most of his thirties pictures, like this, are amongst the decade’s greatest. The crazy ‘Devil and the Deep’ is his masterpiece.

The perfect pre-code movie! Insanely over the top story with larger than life characters and larger than life Tallulah Bankhead. And unlike a lot of what Hollywood churned out in 1931, this is exceptionally well made too.
