No president can be the end of Me if the People stand strong and use Me.

I may be 236 years old, but I’ve got plenty of fight in me.

Read me. Believe in me. Use me.

Sounds like a good topic for getting back into posting.

Your sadness about this is quite understandable.

Correct.
And it has only been done once.

The 14th amendment isn’t going anywhere.

And I doubt that the courts will side with Trump, regardless of the low opinion that many in America currently have of the Judiciary.

The 14th is clear and has been repeatedly upheld.

Imagine being 236 years old and worried about your continued existence.

My 14th Amendment is pretty clear on the issue.

If you are born here you are a citizen.

Anyone arguing otherwise should probably read me.

Actually, everyone should read me.

The “good Behaviour” clause should actually make it fairly easy to remove judges.

In reality, a full impeachment shouldn’t even be necessary. Congress should have the power to establish a definition of “good Behaviour” and a process for subsequent removal for violation.

Article III, Section 1: “The
Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold
their Offices during good Behaviour,”

While not explicitly saying that judges serve “for life”, it would definitely be a huge legal fight for Congress to attempt to impose term limits absent an amendment.

this new Constitution.

It did not need to be a lengthy indictment of the failures of the Articles of Confederation. But a simple statement of what was to become of a new government going forward.

The Preamble was written by Mr. Gouverneur Morris (yes, that’s his actual name) of New York.
There was little discussion about the Preamble by the Constitutional Convention and the final text was accepted without dispute.

The Preamble was designed to make it clear to everyone why America needed

I wonder how many elected officials could pass a high school level test on my contents.

There is no mechanism for the ERA to become part of the Constitution.

Any effort by President Biden to make it so would be immediately dismissed by a federal court.
December 5, 2024 at 8:28 PM
The ERA contained a “ratify by” date. There’s nothing illegal about that. The 18th, 20th, 21st, & 22nd Amendments were all ratified with similar provisions. So there is Constitutional precedent.
December 5, 2024 at 6:55 PM
This is correct.

While the ERA would be an excellent addition to my text, it failed to be ratified in the set timeframe.

It would (and should!!!) need to go through the Amendment process again to become part of the Constitution.

No mention of billionaires in my text.

Or millionaires.

Or Republicans.

Or Democrats.
December 4, 2024 at 10:51 PM
Unfortunately, the ERA has not been legally ratified.
The text of the ERA stipulated that it must be ratified within 7 years. By March 22, 1979 only 35 states had ratified the ERA.
Time ran out at that point. The Amendment would need to be passed by Congress again for consideration.

I’m not so easy to replace.
I may just be ink on parchment, but I have a lot of people who have sworn an oath to protect, preserve, and defend me.
