creatively, i am working on a novel and a fictitious radio show; i also dabble in photography (digital format until i impulse purchase a film camera soon)

professionally, i am a senior-year social work student (which seeps heavily into my creative endeavors)

i find cynicism boring.

Camera: Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II Lens: Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 60mm f/2.8 Macro i don't remember any of the settings as this photo was taken in april a black cat named JJ (aka My Idiot Son) his face takes up the majority of the frame. he is laying on his back, so his face appears upside down. he is looking toward the upper right of the frame, and the lighting is striking him from the lower left. the light highlights the subtle hues of green and yellow within his right eye; the left is recessed into shadow, visible but not illuminated. there is a smattering of carpet in the bottom of the frame Camera: Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II Lens: Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 60mm f/2.8 Macro bubbles against a cloudy sky. the frame is full of iridescent bubbles, shot from a bubble gun my daughter was using while we played outside. the scene is full of grays, backed by the moody skies above. the bubbles, however, are a multitude, and each provides a point of interest for the eye against such a drab backdrop. it feels hopeful in an almost boring way, as though you might see this photo hanging in an office, with some inspirational quote plastered over it. as a metaphor, it is unsubtle. fortunately, hope should not be subtle.
