The controversy over the Heritage Foundation illustrates the collapse of intellectual standards on the right—a profound problem that Donald Trump has exploited and exacerbated, @jonathanbchait.bsky.social argues.
The Conservative Movement’s Intellectual Collapse
Trump is both a product and a cause of the decline in intellectual standards on the right.

Liberals, we don’t have to agree on everything. We have great disagreement between ourselves just like we have with conservatives.

But we can all agree that we are getting fucked by this economy and conservative economic policies. Let’s rally around that and save our country!

My fellow liberals, it’s more important than ever that we practice financial authenticity over the next four years. We need to flex our economic muscles and support businesses that are intentional about reflecting our values, especially in red states.

Let’s vote AND spend our values.

The right definitely needs more empathy, but what they may need even more of, apparently, are business school lessons. I know if I had a business and made a decision to give consistent massive discounts to my biggest customers, I wouldn't be in business for much longer.

Republicans don’t elect themselves.

At this point, I’d rather the people I know that voted for them to just say that they did because they hate public tv, immigrants, poor people, education, rural communities, and marginalized citizen groups. Don’t be silent now. Isn’t this what you wanted?!

Bigotry is not a religion. One can try praying to it, but it won’t save them from the consequences of their ignorance.

If you have ever known love and what it feels like how can you ever be against someone else acting on their love- whether that’s in a relationship or it’s crossing borders to make a better life for themselves and their families.

The NCAA gave a”quiet no” to Coach Prime and his plan to play another team in their spring game this month. But it’s going to happen soon, and it should. The Power schools should play the mid majors and pay them to come in as recompense for annually raiding their rosters.

It is a sad realization that many Americans, when given the choice last November of embracing diversity and inclusion or having billionaires dismantle the federal government and the country, chose the dismantling of their own country.

That is a level of hate I will never understand.

DEI is being used by federal and state governments as a boogeyman for some voters on the right AND left who fear that diversity and inclusion programs are starting to dull the potency of racism. And those voters won't have that, no matter what else it costs them.
Ed Department: DEI Violates Civil Rights Law

In a sweeping and unprecedented letter issued over the weekend, the Office for Civil Rights declared race-based scholarships, cultural centers and even graduation ceremonies illegal. #HigherEd #EDUSky #AcademicSky bit.ly/4hCrabL

I get that the work of making our institutions more inclusive is big-brained work, but that is what striving for “a more perfect union” is all about. If our institutions can’t or won’t fit the needs of the people, we tear down those institutions and build new ones that can and will. People first.

Fellow liberals, just like the myth of the “single-issue voter” there are no single-issue bigots. Our movement needs to start standing on business, and if that business is what we claim it is - for this country to become more inclusive - then we need to stand on all of it. Period.

The jury was correct. The six-minute chokehold that former Marine Penny applied didn’t kill Neely. Being a Black man in America did.

Food deserts aren’t going away. They will likely get worse in the next four years.
Food deserts "didn’t materialize around the country for no reason," Stacy Mitchell writes. "Something happened. That something was a specific federal policy change in the 1980s."

As we saw earlier this month, when you play centrist games, you win centrist prizes.

There’s a reason why I became an Independent, after years of being a Democrat.

How does the Democratic Party get right? It just needs to go left.
